TOM MARSHMAN
I worked as producer for independent performance artist Tom Marshman 2010-2015, supporting the fundraising and development of his artistic projects, and leading on a professional development period for him. Together, we delivered an average of 2 new commissioned projects per year, and extensive touring. Tom’s work is embedded in community engagement and local history research, driven by collaborations and enriched by the personal. As producer, I facilitated his ambitions and supported developments to ensure financial sustainability.
Learning highlights include: the talent of artists to adapt and respond to contexts, the translation work of the producer (from idea to application, from excel sheet to art project), the resonance of untold stories held by previous generations, the resourcefulness and improvisation necessary to small scale touring and community work.
