PANICLAB

Started as a performance-making collective in 2008, PanicLab became a community interest company directed by Joseph Mercier, Lennie and myself. Over the years, I have performed, created, choreographed, curated, produced, managed, administered for the company. As the company was particularly active with a range of Arts Council England and Jerwood Charitable Foundation supported projects 2011-2016 I was Executive Producer of the company, managing the strategy, delivery and feasibility of projects. Each project was different to the last, but focused on placing the body at the heart of the work, with in-depth research through a personal lense, and powerful performative experiences with audiences around the UK and beyond. We built strong partnerships in the dance and queer arts sectors in the UK and internationally. PanicLab continues to produce work sporadically.

Learning highlights include: responsibilities of a company founder, fast-paced learning on the ground, anything from HR processes to accounting and business negotiations, tour booking and fundraising for artistic projects, curating and managing of artistic residencies, audience development and marketing for places you’ve never set foot in before, the ultimate joy of sitting in the dark seats at the back of the theatre with butterflies in your belly during a tech run.

I published an article about Theatre Tax Refund and its benefits learned through my work at PanicLab on Arts Professional in 2018.
